The Union: Kelly & Matt

We can't say enough about what a cool setting Mackinac Island is for a wedding! Everyone else must know this too as there were 10 weddings on the island the day that Kelly and Matt got married! As I walked to meet up with the girls in the salon I looked out onto the lawn in front of Mission Point Resort and saw at least 10 kites flying high, people laying in the grass and reading books in Ardonick chairs. The gazebo Kelly and Matt were about ready to get married in sat in the middle of this beautiful scenery.
Matt and Kelly were so calm. We found out later from Matt that he was actually super nervous but he gets really quiet and calm when he's nervous. You fooled us Matt! As Kelly walked across the lawn to walk to the gazebo, a group of bikes stopped and clapped as she passed them. It gave me chills so I can only imagine that she felt the same way! Kelly and Matt exchanged their own vows but in a private way. They wrote their vows down and placed them in a bottle to read later. They also had each member of their wedding party sign a piece of paper that went into the bottle too. Love this idea!!!
Kelly and Matt and their wedding party took an hour long carriage ride around the island after their wedding. Pat took a jog in dress shoes around the island to keep up with the carriages! There was a mix up with the carriages and he was determined to still be there with me to take photos. I figured he'd just stop and wait for us to come back or went to grab a bike. As I was taking photos of Kelly and Matt I heard Kelly say "NO WAY!" I turned around and saw Pat running up the hill. Honey, you rock!
Kelly and Matt, thank you for including us in your wedding weekend! We wish you the best of luck as you jump into married life!
