One Sick Boy

We have had one very sick boy in our house this past week. Jude started with a cough and head cold, just like Pat, and then his fever just wasn't going away. After the fourth day of the fever sticking around we took him to the doctor to find out his cold had developed into a double ear infection. He wasn't showing any of the signs of an ear infection so of course we felt super bad that we didn't catch onto it sooner. He could barely stay awake to eat so of course I had to take photos of him passed out im his chair.

Jude likes to be held in general but he never falls asleep on you but for four days straight that's all he wanted to do. To be held, to sleep in your arms and just sit there staring at nothing. I felt so bad for him and resorted to wearing t-shirts all day because his warmth was making me sweat while holding him. Pat had a super busy week trying to get out lyric records before Valentine's Day so I set everything aside to take care of Jude.

I have to admit by day four I was frustrated that I hadn't been able to check emails, plan ahead for some upcoming Such Great Heights things and that four days of working never happened. At the same time I felt blessed that I have a job that is flexible enough for me to stop everything and be there for my son when he needed it the most. Sure, I'll be working extra crazy this week to catch up but I know he'll only be this small for so long and there aren't many opportunities to just hold your child and care for them when they are at a stage where they want to explore the world all the time on their own.
